The Sabetha boys basketball team turned a five-point halftime lead into a decisive 60-43 victory over Jefferson West on Tuesday night at home.
The game was tightly contested early, with the Bluejays holding a narrow 14-13 advantage after the first quarter. Sabetha maintained control in the second, edging ahead 27-22 by halftime.
The Bluejays broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 20-7 to build a comfortable cushion they would not relinquish.
Micah Lang led Sabetha with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jack Frazee added 12 points, while Cole Menold contributed eight points. Kyson Wertenberger finished with seven points and seven rebounds.
Jefferson West was paced by Reese Hackett’s 18 points. Brody Schwinn added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Jason Payne chipped in seven points and eight rebounds.
Sabetha finished with 16 turnovers, 30 rebounds, and three three-pointers. Jefferson West recorded 15 turnovers, 26 rebounds, and two three-pointers.
With the win, Sabetha improves to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in Big East League play. The loss drops Jefferson West to 11-7 overall and 5-4 in league competition.
