The Nemaha Central boys and Holton girls claimed the first ever Big East league cross country titles on Thursday afternoon at Banner Creek Reservoir.
Royal Valley's Dominick Schnider continued his strong senior season by claiming the individual title with a time of 17:11.08. Schnider finished 22 seconds in front of Jeter Adams of Riley County who finished runner-up.
Nemaha Central's Harry Langill finished in third place followed by Benny Jones of St. Marys and Marius Carlsen of Perry-Lecompton to round out the top five.
Rounding out the top five team scores behind Nemaha Central was Silver Lake, Riley County, St. Marys, and Perry-Lecompton.
The girls race was won by Holton's Eva Cortes followed by her teammate Maya Doney in second place.
Rounding out the top five individuals was Pauly Rockey of Hiawatha, Ava Clayton of Holton, and Alessandra Gerber of Silver Lake.
Hiawatha finished second in the team standings behind Holton followed by Riley County, Royal Valley, Nemaha Central, and Sabetha.
