Hayden used a dominating first half to take control at Holton and cruise to a 31-7 district victory. Jett Wahlmeier tossed a trio of touchdowns and Hayden built a 21-0 halftime lead, but the story was the Hayden defense that held Holton to only two first downs and 35 total yards in the first two quarters. Hayden went on to churn out 23 first downs and 428 yards of offense and improve to 5-1 on the season while Holton was held to 132 yards rushing and fell to 3-3 on the year.

Holton went three-and-out on their first three possessions and later fumbled the ball at their own 12-yard-line allowing Hayden to score on back to back plays, both passes caught by Jensen Schrickel who finished with 75 yard receiving. Kade Mitchell had 81 yards receiving on 5 catches and also led the Hayden ground game with 79 yards on 14 carries. Wahlmeier was 15-29 passing for 240 yards as Hayden overcame 10 penalties for 95 yards and will host Perry Lecompton and Jeff West in district games the next two weeks.

Holton was 2-5 passing for 20 yards but managed just eight total first downs. They got their only points on a 46-yard touchdown run by Kyler Jackson to pull within 28-7 in the third quarter, but then allowed Hayden to convert a long third down and a fourth and six play to drive and kick a field goal for the final points of the game late in the third period. Hayden was 4-5 on fourth down conversions and all but one was more than six yards to gain.

Trailing 31-7, Holton put together one fourth quarter drive but turned the ball over on downs a the Hayden 12-yard-line. Jackson finished with 80 yard rushing for Holton while Bodie Dillon added 21 yards on the ground. Holton will play their final district game at Hiawatha (2-4) next week.
