The Royal Valley Panthers snapped a two-game skid on Friday night with a week five 12-8 win at Perry-Lecompton.

The Panthers (3-2) scored the lone touchdown in the first quarter on a one-yard run by Manny Oliveira which capped a 60-yard, 4+ minute drive.

Trailing 6-0, Perry-Lecompton (1-4) would get on the board in the second quarter on a 12-yard run by Tristan Gorden and they would add a two-point conversion to lead the game 8-6 at halftime.

The Kaws had a punt blocked on their first possession in the second half but the Panthers couldn't take advantage of the short field position as they would turn it over on downs inside the redzone.

Royal Valley's defense would force the Kaws into another punt and this time would take advantage of good field position with a Jaxson Stevens 19-yard run to give Royal Valley the lead back at 12-8.

The Kaws saw the ball just one more time as they would have to punt with seven minutes left in the game and the Panthers were able to grind down the remainder of the clock to hold on for the win.

Stevens led the Royal Valley rushing attack with 104 yards and a touchdown while Oliveira finished with 66 yards and a touchdown.

Garrett Metcalfe led the Perry-Lecompton rushing attack with 81 yards while Eli Dean finished with 46 yards.

Up next for both, Royal Valley returns home to face ACCHS in week six while Perry-Lecompton is back at home against Jefferson West.
