The Jefferson County North football team advanced to the Class 1A State Title game next weekend in Hays after defeating St. Mary's Colgan 20-13 on the road in the Sub-State Title game on Friday night.
The Chargers got down in the game 13-0 but battled back and were able to comeback and win the game with a dominate defensive effort in the second half.
St. Mary's Colgan was averaging over 52 points per game and hadn't scored less than 27 points in a game this season.
JCN's historic run through the playoffs have also included wins over powerhouse programs Olpe and Centralia.
It's the first time in school history that JCN has made the State Title game in football. It was also the first time in school history that they had made the Sub-State round.
The Chargers (11-1) will face off against Conway Springs (10-2) in Hays on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hays in search of the first State Championship in school history.
That broadcast will be live on KAIR 93.7 FM with the kickoff at 1:00 PM.
