KBCA Releases Latest Rankings --- January 21st

With midseason tournaments in the books for most teams and still to come for a few others there was plenty of movement in the latest KBCA rankings. Total of Kanzaland area teams ranked bumps up one this week from 12 to 13 area teams in the rankings.

Starting off in Class 4A, the lady Wildcats of Holton are still the only area team ranked boys or girls in the polls, but after weeks at number two the lady Wildcats have been bumped up to number one in the latest KBCA rankings. Holton has won 11 straight (11-1) since falling to Wamego in the season opener who had been number one all season until suffering their first loss of the season recently. Wildcats recently won their fifth straight Basehor-Linwood Invitational title, beating Hayden 41-37 in the championship game.

In Class 3A, things are highlighted by a pair of unbeaten teams in the boys rankings as the Nemaha Valley Raiders and ACCHS Tigers won their tournament they took part in recently. For the Raiders of the Nemaha Valley the remained at the number two spot in the rankings are are a perfect 12-0 on the season. Raiders captured the Raiders Classic tournament crown this past Saturday with a 56-48 win over Falls City, winning the tournament for the 15th time and third straight time. For the Tigers of ACCHS, they took home a McLouth Invitational tournament championship after beating Valley Falls on Saturday 53-48 in the championship. The Tigers with the win pushed to 12-0 on the season.

On the girls side of the rankings in 3A, the ACCHS lady Tigers remained in the rankings checking in at number seven this week with their 9-1 record after beating Jefferson West this past week. Lady Tigers prepare for tournament action this week as they take part in the JCN Invitational.

Class 2A, a pair of girls teams are the only area teams ranked this week in the latest set of KBCA rankings. The Washington County lady Tigers paced their way to another Twin Valley League tournament crown for the third straight year, becoming the first girls or boys TVL team to win three straight league tournaments. In the process of the winning the league tourney the Tigers improved to 12-0 on the season. Joining them in the latest polls is Delaware Valley league team Jefferson County North, as the lady Chargers jump back into the top 10 this week, coming in at number 10, after a few weeks out of the polls.

In Class 1A-Division I the Valley Heights Mustangs girls and boys squads are ranked. For the girls it was a strong showing in the TVL tournament as they placed third and improved to 8-3 on the season, to allow them to jump back into the rankings checking in at number nine. The Mustang boys finished second in the TVL tournament and are 8-3 on the season and ranked sixth. The Centralia boys continue to be ranked also as they captured third place in the TVL tournament and improved to 7-4 on the year and are currently ranked fifth in the latest polls.

Class 1A-Division II of all the classes has the most combined teams in the rankings with four, two girls and two boys teams. On the girls side the lady Falcons of B&B remained at number four after a second place finish in the TVL tournament, as they are 10-2 on the season. The lady Wildcats of Frankfort remained ranked also checking in at number eight, with a 8-3 record after a fourth place finish in the TVL tournament. On the boys side the B&B Falcons have slipped in the polls to sixth after an eighth place finish in the TVL tournament and are now 8-4 on the season. The Axtell Eagle boys have jumped back into the polls coming in at number nine after a 4-0 TVL Tournament and first league tournament crown in school history. The Eagles are 9-5 on the season now behind their great performance this past week.
