By Brandon Tadtman

The Nemaha Central softball team hosted senior night on Tuesday and earned a split with Royal Valley.

The Thunder earned the game one victory in five innings with a final score of 10-0.

Freshman pitcher Reagan Gerety was solid pitching all five innings allowing just two hits and striking out six.

Taryn and Mya Ganstrom each hit home runs as the Thunder scored five in the first, one in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to close it out.

Mya's home run was a two-run shot in the first while Taryn hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Elli Rusche and Samantha Nordhus each hit home runs in game two but it was Royal Valley who would rally for the 10-9 win.

With the split, Nemaha Central is now 10-4 overall and 6-4 in Big 7 league play while the Panthers are now 7-6 overall and 6-3 in Big 7 league play.

The Panthers and Thunder are second and third in the standings as they both look up at Holton who is undefeated in league play and have lost only two games this season.
