Axtell Boys and Doniphan West Girls win the D-West Relays

The Doniphan West track and field team hosted the D-West Relays on Thursday afternoon. 

It was the Mustang girls finishing as the top team while the Axtell boys also took home a first place finish. 

The Axtell boys finished with 125 points while D-West finished in second place with 84 points. Wetmore finished in third with 76 points followed by Troy and Riverside. 

The D-West girls notched 111 points for first place and they were followed by Axtell in second place with 107 points. Troy finished in third with 48 points followed by Riverside and Wetmore. 

BOYS EVENTS: Trent Spiker of Doniphan West won the 100 meter dash while Brandon Schmelzle of Axtell finished in second place. D-West's Kelby Windmeyer finished in third place. 

Spiker also took first place in the 200 meter dash with Schmelzle also finishing in second place. 

Windmeyer won the 400 meter dash with Spiker in second and Creighton Johnson finishing in third as D-West swept the top three spots in that event. 

Eric Bloom of Wetmore won the 800 meters while Evan Buessing and Daltyn Heinen of Axtell finishing in second and third respectively. 

Grady Buessing of Axtell won the 1600 meters while Colby Hanzlicek of Wetmore finished in first place in the 3200 meters. 

Axtell swept the hurdles as Noah Scheibe won the 100 meter hurdles and Eli Broxterman won the 300 meter hurdles. 

Doniphan West won the 4x100, Axtell won the 4x400, and Axtell also won the 4x800 meter relays. 

Sawyer Deters of Axtell finished first place in the shot put while Kemper Clary of Troy finished in second place and Owen Strathman of Axtell finished in third. 

Wetmore's Kyler Wommack won the discus while his teammate Storm Hackler brought home first place in the javelin. 

Eric Bloom of Wetmore won the high jump, Scheibe of Axtell won the pole vault, Schmelzle of Axtell won the long jump and Jacob Carls of Wetmore won the triple jump. 

GIRLS EVENTS: Allie Horner of Doniphan West won both the 100 and 200 meters. Allie Franken of Troy finished second in the 100 and third in the 200 while Troy's Jaidyn Johnson finished third in the 100 and second in the 200. 

Axtell swept the top two in the 400 as it was Aspen Buessing finishing in first place followed by Kaylee Sandman in second. 

Elle Williams of Doniphan West swept the three distance runs as she won the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter runs. 

Claire Cole of Doniphan West swept the hurdle events as she won both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. 

Troy picked up first place in the 4x100 while Axtell won both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays. 

H'leigha Idol of Doniphan West won the shot put while Axtell's Emma Schirza finished in second place. 

Wetmore picked up the top two finishes in the discus as Kaitlyn Claycamp and Kenzie Strathman finished in first and second respectively. 

Axtell took the top two places in the javelin as Alison Buessing finished in first place while Taylor Broxterman finished in second place. 

Claire Cole of D-West won both the high jump and triple jump events while Ali Foster of D-West won the pole vault and Sophie Juhl of Riverside taking home first place in the long jump.
