Jeff West Girls Win Home Invitational while Oskaloosa Tallies Third Place Finishes

Jefferson West hosted the Jeff West Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Jeff West Stadium. 

The Jeff West girls dominated the field as they finished in first place with 144 points while Wamego finished in second place with 112 points and Oskaloosa third with 81 points. 

Rounding out the standings were Jefferson County North in fourth place with 67 points and Holton in seventh place with 18 points. 

Mellany Roenne of Jeff West won the 400 meter dash. Oskaloosa finished first and second in the 3200 meter run with Katelyn Vogel and Talyor Peterson. 

Olivia Kilgo and Holly Thacher took home first place in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles respectively. 

Jefferson West also won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. Kimber Pollum of Jeff West got first place in the high jump while Roenne won the triple jump. 

Abigail Laird of Jefferson County North won the shot put while her teammate Kennadi Hernandez finished second place in the javelin. 

It was the Wamego boys who finished first place by running away from the field with 275 points while Cornerstone Family finished in second with 86 and Oskaloosa third with 73 points. 

Jefferson County North finished in fifth place with 39 points followed by Jeff West in sixth place and Holton in seventh. 

Wamego won the majority of the events while Cornerstone Family tallied a couple of first place finishes as well. 

Cord and Colson Perry of Oskaloosa both had solid finishes in the Pentathlon events while it was the mixed 4x100 meter relay team from Jefferson County North that took home first place with Holton finished in second place in that event.
