The Holton boys wrestling team closed the 4A Regional Tournament on Saturday in Paola with a third place finish with four Regional Champs and seven total going to State next weekend.
Kyler Jackson, Jayden Fletcher, Dalton Roush, and Dustin Chermok won Regional titles for the Wildcats.
Jackson took down Perry Lecompton's Alex Conus in the Championship match to win at 120 pounds. Jackson will head to the State Tournament with a 32-5 record.
Fletcher, one of the top ranked wrestlers at 160 pounds, improved to 35-2 and defeated Tonganoxie's Colton Brusven by majority decision to take the crown.
Roush continues to tear down at 220 pounds as he defeated Tonganoxie's Hunter Benedict by a 7-2 decision in the Championship match. Roush heads to State with a 30-6 record.
Chermok won at 285 pounds by defeating Baker North of Bishop Miege in the Championship match by a 7-5 decision to improve to 35-5.
Lucas Adcock took home a second place finish and lost to Parker Guge of Ottawa in the Championship match. Adcock heads to State with a 24-16 record.
Tucker Gilliland finished in third place at 113 pounds and will head to the State Tournament with a 27-6 record. Gilliland took down Theron Meyer of Jefferson West to claim the third place finish.
Cayden Jackson finished in fourth place at 152 pounds. Jackson lost in the third place match to Dayton Fraser of Eudora by fall.
Atchison's Archer Willis, one of our previous athletes of the week, took home a fourth place finish at 126 pounds as his record currently sits at 31-4. Jake Rebant for the Phoenix also posted a third place finish at 160 and defeated Santa Fe Trail's Kyle Strother to take home the bronze.
Royal Valley's Quinton Nelson finished in third place at 138 by defeating Baldwin's Jesse Hopper by fall in the third place match. Nelson's record improves to 28-10.
Christian Conklin of Perry Lecompton finished in third place at 170 and is 26-13 after beating Isaac Hook of Santa Fe Trail by decision in the third place match.
Keaton Shelman of Jefferson West finished in fourth place at 182 pounds. Shelman's record got to 32-8 after a loss to Brandon Doles of Louisburg in the third place match. The Tigers also posted a fourth place finish with Tristan Strawn at 220. Strawn dropped to 27-9 after a loss to Ottawa's Aaron Clevenger in the third place match.
The 4A State Tournament will be Friday and Saturday (25th and 26th) at the Tony's Pizza Events Center in Salina.
