In what was the second to last game of the regular season for both teams, it was the Centralia girls and Clifton Clyde boys picking up wins on Friday night at Centralia on senior night.
Girls: Clifton Clyde 30, Centralia 57
This game was tight in the first half as the Panthers led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and they were slowly able to build up a 27-19 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was the game changer as Centralia ripped open a number of three's and outscored the Eagles 21-6 to build a 48-25 lead at the end of the quarter and they were able to coast the rest of the way.
The Panthers got big nights from Lena Haverkamp as well as Avery and Oen Deters. Oen led the way with 16 points and six rebounds. Haverkamp tallied 14 points and nine rebounds while Avery tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Eagles were led by Lilly Steinbrock with 14 points while Shea Wurtz added seven points and six rebounds.
The Panthers, #2 in Class 1A-I, move to 19-0 and one step closer to the undefeated regular season and TVL title. Clifton Clyde falls to 12-8 overall and 6-6 in TVL play.
Boys: Clifton Clyde 57, Centralia 46
The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter as they were solid on both ends of the floor in building an 18-9 lead at the end of one.
The lead was 12 at halftime at 32-20 but the Panthers certainly didn't go away quietly on senior night.
The Eagles and Panthers for a while in the third quarter were trading buckets back and forth and by the end of the quarter, Centralia was down 45-37.
The Centralia crowd was fired up as the Panthers on multiple occasions were within five and six points coming down the home stretch but ultimately the Eagles were able to hold on for the win.
Clifton Clyde was led by Seth LeClair who posted a big double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Coy Steinbrock added 13 points with four three's and Drayden Reed added 10.
The Pathers were led by Trenton Talley and Presly Bowers who each had 10 points.
Clifton Clyde, #9 in Class 1A-I, improves to 14-5 overall and 9-3 in TVL play while the Panthers drop to 11-8 overall and 8-4 in league play.
Both teams will have their regular season finale's next week as Clifton Clyde will travel to Lyndon on Monday while Centralia will play at Axtell on Tuesday night.
