The Holton boys wrestling team continued its strong season as they won the Silver Lake Tournament over the weekend.
The Wildcats finished with 183 points which was 17 points better than Silver Lake who finished in second place followed by Ottawa in third.
Nemaha Central and ACCHS posted strong weekends as the Thunder finished in fourth while the Tigers finished in fifth place.
106: Nemaha Central's Keaton Rottinghaus finished in second place behind Brock Sutton of Ottawa. Sutton won the first place match over Rottinghaus by fall. Karson Kahler of Jefferson West finished in third place in front of Payton Rivera of Royal Valley. Kahler won by fall over Rivera to claim third place.
113: Theron Meyer of Jefferson West claims first place at 113 with a victory by fall over Holton's Tucker Gilliland in the first place match. Lucas Holthaus of Nemaha Central finished in fourth place behind Wabaunsee's Weston Johnson.
120: Holton's Kyler Jackson claims picks up the first place finish at 120 as he improves to 27-5 on the season. Jackson knocked off Nemaha Central's John Langill in the first place match. Royal Valley's Matt Tracy finished in fifth place after defeating Ethan Engert of Silver Lake.
126: Holton's Cale Hein defeated Anderson County's A.J. Schaffer in the first place match by a 7-4 decision. In the third place match, it was Carter Trimble of Marysville defeating Ottawa's Trevor Kaub. Austin Smith of ACCHS took home fifth place after beating Trenten Harris of Silver Lake by majority decision.
132: Mason Scholz of ACCHS continues his dominate season as he improves to 23-3 with a first place finish at 132. Scholz knocked off Ottawa's Dalton Evans by fall in the first place match. Asher Larsen of Holton finished in third place as he defeated Koy Randel of Wellsville in the third place match.
145: Easton Schletzbaum of ACCHS took home second place at 145. Easton lost to Ottawa's Parker Guge via a 6-1 decision in the first place match. Pat Madden of Maur Hill finished in fourth place while Holton's Lucas Adcock finished in fifth place.
152: Marysville's Porter Sparks picks up a fourth place finish at 152. Sparks lost to Silver Lake's Chase Root in the third place match. Aden Feldkamp of Nemaha Central finished in sixth place after falling to Noah Martinez of Wellsville by a 6-1 decision.
160: Holton's Jayden Fletcher, one of the top ranked wrestlers at 160, improved to 30-2 on the season with a first place finish. Fletcher defeated Mac Chambers of Southeast of Saline by a 5-0 decision in the Championship match. Bricen Lee of ACCHS finished in third place after defeating Riley County's Samson Waggoner by majority decision. Nemaha Central's Abram Keim also posted a top-six finish.
170: Nemaha Central's Mo Hilbert, one of our reigning athletes of the week, finished in second place after losing in the first place match to Daigan Kruger of Silver Lake by a 6-3 decision. It's just the third loss of the season for Hilbert.
182: Keaton Shelman of Jefferson West took home third place at 182 while Conner Simmers of ACCHS finished in fourth and Nemaha Central's Seth Meyer finished in sixth. Shelman defeated Simmers by fall in the third place match. Meyer lost by fall to Wellsville's Carter Wilmarth in the fifth place match.
195: Marysville's Beau Wassenberg finished in third place in front of Rock Creek's Cooper Bittle. Vincent Webb of ACCHS finished in fifth place after defeating Nemaha Central's Levi Kraisinger by a 7-5 decision.
220: Holton's Dalton Roush, one of the top ranked wrestlers at 220, goes to 25-6 with a first place finish. Roush defeated Mission Valley's Jon Grame by fall in the first place match. Tristan Strawn of Jefferson West finished in fifth place after defeating Prairie View's Dayton Kline by fall in the fifth place match.
285: Holton's Dustin Chermok, one of the top ranked wrestlers at 285, took home a third place finish. Chermok finished behind Andrew Watts of Humboldt and Wayde Cox-Halliburton of Prairie View. Marysville's Garrison Craig finished fifth by defeating Silver Lake's Calvin Carman by fall.
