The Jackson Heights girls basketball team got back on track Thursday night against Horton in a NEKL contest as the Cobras win big 58-36. Following their first loss of the season to Hiawatha last Saturday in the HIT, it was a slow start as Jackson Heights trailed 12-5 after one quarter and tied the game 26-26 at halftime. But a dominating 32-10 second half propelled the Lady Cobras to the win.
The combination of Kanyon Olberding and Kaylee Thompson was on display as the two combine for 47 of the 58 Cobra points.
Thompson posted 26 points while Olberding added 21 points.
Horton was led by Maliyah Soto with 13 points while Ashtyn Keo added 12 points.
Cobras with the win improve to 12-1 overall and 9-0 in NEKL play while Horton falls to 5-8 overall and 4-6 in NEKL play.
Horton back in action on Friday at Valley Falls with a live broadcast on KNZA 103.9 FM while Jackson Heights travels to Oskaloosa.
