2021 has been a wild year from start to finish. We are blessed at Kanzaland Radio to cover some of the best athletes in the state.
We've tried our best to put together the Top 10 Moments of the 2021 year. We continue our countdown with #5.
Individual State Track and Field Champions.
There were plenty of local athletes that won individual track and field titles in Wichita. In Class 3A, the Perry Lecompton boys won the 4x100 meter relay with Caden Dean, Hunter Hess, Caidon Quinlan, and Kaiden Doleman which helped the Kaws place third as a team.
Nemaha Central got a State Title winner from Nathan Deters in the shot put.
In Class 2A, Emma Yungeberg took home titles in the shot put and javelin. She nearly made it three with a second-place finish in the discus. Yungeberg is signed to throw at Michigan.
Jefferson County North’s Adie Manville was a repeat state champion in the high jump. Jackson Heights also posted a state champion with Kanyon Olberding in the triple jump.
In Class 1A, Doniphan Wests’ Elle Williams took home the state title in the 800 meter run while the 4x800 meter relay team of Williams, Chloe Clevenger, Claire Cole, and Emma Albers also took home the gold medal.
