Dec. 7 KBCA – Rankings
The first full week of the high school basketball season is underway, and the Kansas Basketball Association has released the first regular season rankings for the year featuring 16 local teams.
In the girl’s rankings the Nemaha Central Thunder check in at No. 7 in the Class 3A rankings following a 38-22 win over Perry Lecompton on Friday.
The Class 2A rankings feature two local teams again this week with Valley Heights ranked fifth following a 30-point win over Riley County while ACCHS is ninth after a big win over Maur Hill-Mount Academy.
In 1A-DI the Centralia Panthers check in at No. 5 this week while Doniphan West is ranked seventh along with fellow TVL foe Hanover ranked second in 1A-DII.
On the boy’s side the Holton Wildcats are ranked tenth in Class 4A after a big win over Burlington Thursday 54-50.
In Class 3A two teams are ranked in the top six with Royal Valley holding on to the No. 3 spot while Nemaha Central is ranked sixth.
Two Northeast Kansas League teams highlight the 2A rankings on the boy’s side with Valley Falls checking in at No. 6 while Jeff County North is ranked eighth.
In 1A-DI the Troy boys continue to be highly ranked coming in at No. 3 while Centralia is sixth and Frankfort ninth.
The rankings are rounded out in 1A-DII with two more teams ranked with Hanover at the top while Axtell checks in at No. 3.
