KBCA Releases First Rankings Post Holdiay Break -- Jan. 7th

The holiday break has pasted and basketball action has started to heat up again across Kansas for the second half of the season with some teams already playing game back on this past Friday. The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released its first set of rankings post holiday and 15 area teams finding themselves still in the rankings.

On the girls side the Holton Wildcats remain ranked at number two in Class 4A as they have won their last six game to be 6-1 after a season opening loss to the number on team in Class 4A Wamego.

In Class 3A, two area teams continue to be ranked as the Lady Tigers of ACCHS check in at number three with a perfect 7-0 record this season, cruising through the competition. The other team hails from the Big Seven in the Lady Bluejays of Sabetha who have a 6-1 record this season.

Two more teams from the area are ranked in Class 2A, as the Washington County Tigers remain unbeaten on the season with a perfect 8-0 record and out of the Delaware Valley League the Lady Mustangs of Doniphan West with a 6-1 record moved up to number seven.

The remaining three other girls squads ranked in the latest KBCA rankings are all from the TVL and in Class 1A-Division II. Checking in at number ten are the Frankfort Wildcats with a 6-1 record, then the Baileyville-B&B Falcons come in at number five with a 7-1 record and the Wetmore Cardinals with a 4-2 record are ranked third.

On the boys side seven area teams are ranked in the latest polls. Starting off with a pair of unbeaten teams in featured in the Class 3A rankings with the Raiders of Nemaha Valley leading the way at number two with a perfect 7-0 record and the Tigers of ACCHS also at 7-0 ranked seventh.

Two teams are also featured in the 2A rankings as the Jefferson County North Chargers and Onaga Buffaloes check in at numbers nine and ten, respectively. The Chargers are off to a 5-2 record this season and Onaga as started fast this season with a 7-1 mark.

In 1A-Division I its a pair of TVL teams in the rankings with Valley Heights leading the way at number three with a 6-1 record this season and then Centralia with a 3-3 record at number seven.

One other TVL team is in the rankings that being the Baileyville-B&B Falcons who are 7-1 and ranked fourth in Class 1A-Division II.
