Just one week remains in the high school football regular season and after several upsets in week seven six area teams remained ranked in the newest state rankings released on Monday.
In Class 3A the only area team still ranked is the Marysville Bulldogs who are 6-1 after suffering a 30-8 loss to Holton last week which dropped them to No. 3 in the rankings.
The Centralia Panthers continued to be ranked fourth in Class 1A this week after a 62-0 beat down of Wabaunsee Friday night and are 6-1 outscoring opponents 306-91 this season.
In 8-man DI the Clifton-Clyde Eagles continue to be ranked checking in this week at No. 5 with a perfect 7-0 record after a 48-0 shutout of Washington County last week.
The final three ranked area teams come in 8-man DII and all three teams from the Twin Valley League as Frankfort is second, Axtell third and Hanover fourth.
Frankfort moved to 7-0 on the season Friday night with a last-second 24-20 win over Axtell who is now 6-1, while Hanover bounced back and moved to 6-1 with a 54-7 win over Wetmore. Hanover and Frankfort will meet Friday night for the district championship and possibly TVL 8-man championship.
