Wamego Invitational – Results

The high school volleyball season continued for a few area teams on Saturday competing at the Wamego Invitational and the best area finish came from the Holton Lady Cats who took third.

Holton opened the tournament by going 3-1 in pool play picking up wins over Mission Valley, Santa Fe Trail and St. Mary’s with the only loss coming in a three-set thriller.

That put the Lady Cats into the semifinals up against the host Wamego, but after a dominant set one victory Holton fell in three sets which placed them in the third-place match.

The Lady Cats were able to end the day with a victory, taking down Big 7 foe Nemaha Central in two quick sets to earn third.

As to the Thunder they earned fourth place by going 3-1 in pool play by earning wins over Rock Creek, Riley County and Hays while falling to Wamego.

Nemaha Central then fell to the eventual champion Circle in the semifinals in two sets before the loss to Holton in the third-place match.
