Onaga Track Team Competes at St. Mary's Invite

The Onaga Buffalos stepped out of the area and took on other competition in track acion on Friday as they participated in the St. Mary's Invitational coming home with three first place finishes and 15 Top five showings on the day.

Both the girls and the boys for Onaga registered gold medalists on the day in action at the St. Mary's Invitational. Cheyenne Brunkow earned the lone first place finish for the lady Buffalos as she tossed her way to the win in the shot put with a toss of 35'04.75, while also taking third in the javelin and fifth in the discus. For the boys both Garrett Ames and Michael Bliss claimed gold as Ames behind a time of 43.35 won the 300 meter hurdles and took second in the 110 meter hurdles, while Bliss with a throw of 147'09 took first place in the javelin.

Joining Brunkow with top notch performances for the lady Buffalos was Belinda Ames who registered a pair of third place finishes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, while taking fourth in the long jump, while Alexis VanDonge and Rebekah Glessner each placed fifth in the 800 meter run and triple jump, respectively. The lady Buffalos 4x800 meter relay team, also took fifth but only five teams competed in the event.

On the boy's side of action, Logan Marten picked up a bronze medal for Onaga in the triple jump, while the boys 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams each placed fourth; only four teams competed in the 4x800 competition.

The Buffalos take to the track again next Friday as they host several area teams in their home meet on May 8th.
