KBCA Releases Latest Rankings With 17 Area Teams Ranked -- Jan. 19th

Mid-season tournament week has started across the state of Kansas and headed into this week the KBCA has released its latest set of rankings with 17 area teams in the rankings.

Class 4A-DII houses four area teams in the rankings this week with the Holton Wildcat girls and boys both remaining in the rankings. The lady Wildcats moved up one spot this week in the rankings, up to sixth and is now 6-4 on the season. The Wildcat boys jumped up two spots this week to seventh and are 6-3 on the season. Atchison and Royal Valley boys both check in, in the rankings this week coming in at eighth and ninth, respectively. The Redmen are 6-3 on the season, while Royal Valley sits at 5-4 on the year.

The 3A rankings are highlighted by the Sabetha Bluejays, yet again this week as both the lady Bluejays and the boys are still unbeaten on the season each at 9-0. The lady Bluejays continue to climb the rankings up another spot this week to third, while the boys made a big leap up to second, shooting up three spots in the poll. The Nemaha Central Thunder boys also remain in the rankings this week checking in at seventh with an 8-1 record on the season.

Washington County boys and girls are leading the charge in the Class 2A rankings for area teams as the girls remain unbeaten at 10-0 and rank second again this week, while the boys are up to fifth in the rankings and are 9-1 on the season. The Jackson Heights Cobras continue to roll along this season with a 7-1 record and moved up one spot to ninth this week, while the Valley Falls lady Dragons remain ranked fifth this week with their 8-1 record on the year.

Five Twin Valley League teams check in the rankings again this week in Class 1A-Division I, with the Hanover Wildcat boys leading the way remaining ranked first in the polls with a 9-0 record. The Centralia girls and boys are both ranked yet again this week as the Centralia boys check in at second with their 8-1 record on the season and the lady Panthers come in at ninth with 8-1 record, also. Valley Heights boys and girls both remain ranked this week, too as the lady Mustangs are 8-1 on the season and ranked second, while the boys are 6-4 and check in at fourth in the polls.

The Axtell lady Eagles continue to remain the only area team ranked in Class 1A-Division II, as they come in at eighth this week; moving up one spot in the latest polls.

Teams continue the basketball season this week with plenty of mid-season action all around the listening area.
