Ten Area Teams Grace the Latest KVA Volleyball Rankings

Week five volleyball rankings have been released by the Kansas Volleyball Association and 10 area teams grace the rankings in Class 4A-DII and under as the season starts to hit the final stretch before postseason action.

Class 4A-Division II houses a trio of area teams as Jeff West, Holton and Atchison remained ranked in the latest polls. The Tigers remained steadfast at #2 this week with a 22-7 record, going 2-2 at the Silver Lake Invitational in their most recent action this past Saturday. While, fellow Big Seven League team Holton moved up one spot in the polls to #5 this week, but was swept by Royal Valley on Tuesday in a League double-header moving to 17-10 on the year. For Atchison they are up one spot this week also, moving up to #6 as the Lady Red picked up a pair of wins over KC Harmon on Tuesday to move to 18-7 on the year.

In Class 3A the Nemaha Central remained the only ranked area team and have remained ranked at #6 all season, where they stay this week. The Thunder is 17-7 on the season after picking up a pair of wins over Hiawatha in Big Seven action on Tuesday.

The Washington County Tigers have fell down from the number one spot falling two spots to #3 in the latest Class 2A rankings as the Tigers are 21-3 on the year after beating Linn and Troy on Tuesday night at the Linn Triangular.

Class 1A-Division I continues to house three area teams in the rankings as the Centralia Panthers continue to pounce all over their opponents to the tune of a 30-1 record and remain ranked #2 in the polls, behind an unbeaten Goessel team. The Panthers picked up three wins on Tuesday beating Valley Heights, Axtell and Onaga all in straight sets at the Onaga Quad. The Valley Heights Mustangs remained ranked at #4 in the latest polls and are 16-8 on the season after falling to Centralia and Axtell at the Onaga Quad and beating Onaga. Immaculata remained ranked at number seven this week in the polls and have won all four of their matches this week to improve to 22-6 on the year.

Two more Twin Valley League teams are ranked in Class 1A-Division II as the Linn Bulldogs jumped up two spots this week to #3 in the in polls and are 20-10 on the season after beating Troy and losing to Washington County on Tuesday. While the Axtell Eagles are ranked for the first time all season jumping into the rankings all the way up at #4 this week and are 18-12 on the season, after beating Valley Heights and Onaga on Tuesday and losing to Centralia.

Teams just have a few matchups left to focus on in the next couple weeks before turning their attention to postseason action.
