Kansas High School Baseball & Softball State Brackets Set

With the Regionals in the books the State brackets have been set in Kansas for State baseball and softball action next Thursday and Friday, May 29th and 30th.

Five area teams continued their season by claiming Regional Championships and four of the five will be seeded number one or two in their respective State brackets.

On the baseball diamond the Troy Trojans and Perry Lecompton Kaws will continue their season at State. Troy punched their ticket to the 2-1A State tournament by topping Immaculata 9-2 in the semifinals of the Regionals and then taking down an undefeated Valley Falls team in the Regional Championship, winning 8-6. Trojans sit at 19-3 on the season and check in as the number two seed in the State bracket and draw the seven seed, Ellis in the first round who is 16-7 (full 2-1A baseball bracket - click here) and will hit the diamond on Thursday May 29th at 4:00pm in Great Bend.

Perry Lecompton Kaws sits at 19-3 on the season and will be number one seed in the 4A-Division II State tournament after topping Holton 11-2 in the Regional Semifinal and then beating Jeff West 1-0 in the Regional Championship. The Kaws will play the eight seed Goodland (7-13) in the first round of the 4A-DII State tournament hitting the diamond at 11:00am in Pratt on Thursday May 29th (full 4A-DII baseball bracket - click here). 

Three area softball teams will continue their season at State as Jeff West, Oskaloosa and McLouth will all compete next week. 

For the Jeff West Tigers they continued their strong season last week by topping Perry Lecompton 11-1 and Royal Valley 5-0 in the Regional Semifinal and Championship, respectively. With the two wins the Tigers head into the 4A-Division II State softball tournament with a 19-1 record and will be the number one seed. Jeff West draws the eight seed, Chapman as their first round opponent; Chapman is 14-8 on the season. Tigers will play at 5:00pm in their first round game at Pratt (full 4A-DII softball bracket - click here).

In Class 3A the Oskaloosa Bears are headed to the State tournament and come into the State competition with an unblemished record as they Bears improved to 23-0 after winning the Regional title at Marysville. The Bears had a first round bye and then won a pair of one-run games to make the State tournament, beating Hiawatha 5-4 in the semifinals and topping Marysville 4-3 in the Championship. Bears will be the number one seed in the 3A State tournament and play the eight seed, Lyons/Chase (16-7) in the first round in Topeka at 5:00pm (full 3A softball bracket - click here).

McLouth Bulldogs will compete in the 2-1A State softball competition in Great Bend next week after topping Troy and Valley Falls 3-2 and 5-4 in the Regional semifinals and Championship, respectively. The Bulldogs go into the State tournament with a record of 17-4 and will the sixth seed in the competition playing the three seed Hillsboro (21-2) in the first round at 7:00pm on Thursday May 29th (full 2-1A softball bracket - click here).
