Holton 49, Perry Lecompton 18

Despite another slow start, Holton rallied from an early 6-0 and a 12-7 deficit and went on to run for 485 yards averaging nearly 11 yards per carry to post their third straight win. Three Wildcat seniors all broke the century mark rushing and the Holton defense kept Perry Lecompton scoreless in their final seven drives of the night.

The only possession Holton didn't score on was the opening drive which resulted in a fumble inside the Kaws 30-yard-line after converting a second fourth and short. The Cats scored touchdowns on their next seven series before giving the ball back with 70 seconds left. Holton did not need more than six plays on any of their seven touchdown drives and they ripped big play after big play.

Homecoming king Jayden Fletcher led the way with 147 yards on 13 carries and a score while Matt Lierz (113 yards) and Garyson Booth (116 yards) both had two touchdowns with each back only having six carries. Caleb Hernandez added 58 yards and a pair of scores and Ashton Schrick had an interception as Holton won their district opener and will play at Royal Valley (1-3) next week.

Perry Lecompton might be the best 1-3 team in the state with a tough early season schedule that gets even tougher next week with a home district game against Hayden. The banged up Kaws finished Friday night with a balanced attack led by senior QB Gunnar Ball who was 18-28 for 260 yards passing and also ran for a TD to start the game. Kael Gorski had 6 catches for 86 yards including a 36-yard TD reception to put Perry up 12-7 as they scored on their opening two drives. and Tristan Gorden had a great all around game with 78 yards of 14 carries and a rushing touchdown to make it 42-18 early in the fourth quarter.
