Centralia Boys & Girls Track Teams Win Frankfort Invite With Other TVL Teams Having Strong Showings

Five Twin Valley League teams competed in their first track meet of the year against each other. Frankfort played host to the Invitational with Centralia, B&B, Onaga and Troy all competing along with Frankfort against each other.

At the end of the day Centralia came out on top in both the boys and girls competition starting the track and field season with a bang. Centralia boys posted 183 taking first, while Frankfort followed in second (143) and Onaga rounded out the top three finishing with 122 points for third. B&B boys took fourth with 68 points and Troy finished fifth with 22 points. In the girls competition Centralia had a tighter battle at for first but posted 167 points to claim first, over B&B who took second place with 153 points. Frankfort girls took home third place with 67, while Onaga was fourth with 63 points and Troy finished fifth with 60 points.

Centralia boys multiple top notch performances on the with senior, Brett Burdiek spear heading they way taking home three first place performances. Burdiek swept the hurdles winning the 110 meters with a time of 16.11 and the 300 meters behind a time of 46.11, while also winning the high jump with a leap of 6'03. Sam Steinlage, also took home three first place showings winning both the triple jump and long jump with leaps of 39'05 and 18'06, respectively. Steinlage was also part of the Panthers 4x100 meter relay team that posted a time of 46.60 to take first place as he ran with JT Rosine, Wyatt VanDorn and Darrian Turner. Centralia had one other first place finish and that was Theo Steinlage who won the discus behind a toss of 114-00.50.

Frankfort boys took home second place and had three first place finishes in events. Adam Koch led the way for the Wildcats taking first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.35 and was part of the Wildcats 4x800 meter relay team that took home first place, too with a time of 9:13.94. Alex Roeder, Keith Huddleston and Sheldon Parthemer each joined Koch on the 4x800 team. Derek Kraushaar took home the other first place performance for the Wildcat boys winning the shot put with a toss of 41'08.5.

Onaga Buffalos who finished third place as a team had four first place performances on the day as Michael Eisenbarth led the way with two of the four. Eisenbarth paced himself to wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 5:16.37 and 11:12.59. David Koelzer took home first in the 400 meter dash behind a time of 53.82 and Onaga 4x400 meter relay topped Frankfort for first in that race with a time of 3:48.46.

B&B Falcons were led by two first place showings on the day as senior, Cameron Haug took home first in the javelin with toss of 159'01 and Jacob Koelzer posted a time of 11.38 to win the 100 meter dash.

Troy Trojans place fifth as a team and did not have any first place finishers on the day with multiple fourth place finishes highlighting their day.

On the girls side the lady Panthers of Centralia took home the team title with four first place performances leading the way. Sophomore, Mayda Stallbaumer notched two of the first place showings winning both the 800 meter run and 3200 meter run with times of 2:46.18 and 14:32.25. Chelsea Huerter vaulted her way to the win in the pole vault with a vault of 8'00, while Tara Bergman won the discus with a toss of 112'00.

The B&B lady Falcons finished 14 points behind Centralia for second place as a team but did capture 10 finish place finishes in the events. Senior, Ashley Kramer took home gold in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.58 and 29.63, while also running the first place 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams who posted times of 54.60 and 4:38.44. Kramer was joined by Samantha Wessel, Jenna Macke and Cassidy Hulsing on the relay teams. Both Wessel and Hulsing added another first place showing to their day as Wessel won the triple jump behind a leap of 31'01.50 and Hulsing won the high jump with a leap of 4'10. Kelsey Schmitz and Laura Sudbeck both came away from the Frankfort Invite competition with a pair of gold medals, also each winning two events. Schmitz won both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 17.98 and 54.47, while Sudbeck tossed her way to wins in the shot put and javelin with tosses of 37'01 and 114'07, respectively.

Frankfort girls took home third place as a team and while the team didn't have any first place finishes on the day they had multiple top notch performances with three second place performances on the day.

Onaga and Troy finished fourth and fifth, respectively as teams and each had first place finishers on the day. For Onaga, Maggie Revell took home first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:44.40, while the lady Buffalos 4x800 meter relay team of Alexis Van Donge, Revell, Rebekah Glessner and Jocelyn Marten took first with a time of 11:32.63. Troy's top performances were highlighted by Holly Whetstine who won the 400 meter dash (1:09.48) and the long jump (14'11).
