On any given night in the Twin Valley League no matter the matchup you can expect great games but coming into Friday the B&B at Valley Heights game was one of those matchups you knew had the potential to be great and both the girls and boys games didn't disappoint. Valley Heights came out victorious both times but need overtime in the girl’s game and double overtime in the boy’s matchup, winning 68-59 in the girl’s game and 63-62 in the boys matchup.

The night started with the girls matchup and it was the B&B Falcons that flew out of the gate to a quick 5-0 lead, but that was quickly cut to one at 5-4, until the Falcons punched back with a 6-0 run to take a 11-4 lead and led 17-11 after the first quarter. The Falcons lead blossomed to nine at the half, 30-21 behind 16 points in the first half by Katie Huerter who finished with 19 points in the game.

Valley Heights answered back in the third quarter with a stretch run to finalize the quarter to pull even at 38-38 apiece. The Mustangs then took their first lead of the game at 40-38 early in the fourth quarter and pushed that lead out but the Falcons answered and tied at 55-55, B&B had a shot to win the game at the end of regulation but a three-pointer by Ashley Kramer clanged off the iron sending the game to overtime.

In overtime it was all Valley Heights putting together a 13-4 period to grab the 68-59 win, setting themselves up in prime position to win the TVL regular season title, improving to 17-1 on the season. Brandi Jo Roepke led Valley Heights with 24 points, 22 of which were in the second half and was named co-Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" on KMZA. Junior, Sidney Blackburn chipped 11 points and Lesley Frohberg added 10 for the Mustangs.

B&B in the loss fell to 17-3 on the season and was led by Huerter and her 19 points who earned co-Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA with Roeke of Valley Heights. Laura Sudbeck chipped in 16 points for the Falcons, while Ashley Schmitz scored 11 points.

Not to be out done by the girls game the boys game was just as action packed and need two extra periods to decide the winner.

Neither, B&B or Valley Heights really established momentum or control throughout the first half as the game was tied 12-12 after the first quarter and 25-25 at the half. The Falcons pushed to a 40-39 lead after three quarters of action but Valley Heights answered and tied the game up with a chance to win it at the end of regulation but a Bennett Bargdill three-pointer came up short, forcing overtime.

In the first overtime both teams had their moments but the B&B Falcons perhaps had the most costly portion of the quarter as Cameron Haug and Luke Holthaus both fouled out of the game. Even without both Haug and Holthaus the game was tied at 58-58 in the final seconds of overtime and Dustin Rottinghuas fired up a three-pointer to win the game but missed fired forcing overtime number two.

Valley Heights held a four-point lead late after Gage Woodyard split some free throws and the clock just had a few seconds left after some missed shots by B&B. The Falcons got a three-point basket off and hit it at the buzzer but that just brought them to with one with no time left giving Valley Heights the 63-62 double overtime win.

The Mustangs were led by junior, Elijah Smith who scored 22 points, with 10 in the first half helping him earn co-Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA in the boy’s game. Bargdill and Gage Woodyard both added 13 points for Valley Heights, while Charles Musil scored 10 points. With the win Valley Heights moved to 16-2 on the season and is in the drive seat for the league title.

For B&B with the loss falls to 13-7 on the season and was led by Rottinghaus who posted 22 points to earn co-Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA, alongside Smith for Valley Heights. Senior, Blake Deters chipped in 10 points, while Dylan Schmitz and Trent Schulte both added nine points.

Next up the B&B Falcons close out the regular season at Blue Valley-Randolph on Tuesday, while Valley Heights will play at Blue Valley-Randolph on Monday and then close out the regular season with a road matchup at Axtell on Tuesday (game will be on 92.1 KMZA).
