It was a highly anticipated night in Seneca the rivalry rematch in the Big Seven League play as Nemaha Valley played host to Sabetha this time around and it was a split on the night. The Lady Raiders avenged an earlier loss this season to Sabetha winning 43-35, while Sabetha boys remained unbeaten on the season topping Nemaha Valley 59-47.

In the girls game it was close early on and through most of the ballgame as Nemaha Valley worked out to a 7-4 advantage after the first quarter and lead 18-10 at the half with an 11-6 second quarter. Coming out of halftime Sabetha knocked down a pair of three's to draw within two at 18-16 but the Raiders after a timeout responded with an 8-0 run to take control of the game again and lead 29-19 after three quarters of play.

Bluejays tried their best to battle back into the game but foul trouble continued to plague Sabetha and missed three-pointers as they were 7-18 from behind the arc of the night. Raiders answered what the Bluejays threw at them in the fourth frame and hit some free throws down the stretch, finishing 19-31 from the charity stripe and earning the 43-35 win.

Nemaha Valley in the win was led by junior, Kennedy McKernan who posted 13 points, while Madison Koch and Michaela Stallbaumer each chipped in six points. With the win the Raiders improved to 14-3 on the season and sit atop their sub-state as the number seed currently.

For Sabetha they fell to 13-5 on the season and was led by sophomores, Alexis McAfee and Taryn Schuette who both scored seven points on the night in the loss.

In the boys matchup the pace was back and forth with Nemaha Valley taking the reins early in the contest leading 14-10 after the first quarter and for a majority of the first half until Sabetha made a late surge and with a Brett Plattner three-pointer tied things up going into halftime.

With the momentum seemingly swinging Sabetha's way the Bluejays came flying out of halftime and used a 17-7 third quarter to separate themselves from the Raiders in the matchup, leading 45-35 at the half and went to win 59-47.

Sabetha on the night finished 21-30 from the free throw line and was led by Plattner's 16 points on the night as he hit three trifectas on the evening. Senior, Gaven Schumann chipped in 15 points, while Kegan Schumann added 11 points. Jacob Frey and Kellen Russell both accounted from the reminder of the Bluejays points with nine and eight point’s performances, respectively. With the win the Bluejays remained unbeaten on the season and earned the Big Seven League title in the process.

For Nemaha Valley they fell to 15-2 on the season with their two losses to Sabetha this year. The Raiders were led by Caleb Meyer who posted 16 points on the night while Justice McKernan added 15 points in the loss.

Both teams head on the road on Friday to continue Big Seven League play as Sabetha will be at Santa Fe Trail and Nemaha Valley while travel to Jeff West.
