Centralia Trumps Troy in TVL Twin Bill

GIRLS = Centralia 43, Troy 33
Coming into the game with three straight losses, the Centralia girls started strong with a 5-0 and 9-2 lead on Tuesday night at home and would never trail in the victory.  The Panthers used a size advantage to control the rebounding early and led 25-21 at halftime. Troy never got closer than four points in the second half despite improved play that kept them within single digits until the final minutes. 
Liz Hasenkamp made four treys in the first quarter and hit another in the second for a 17-point first half, and was named the "Player to Bank On" sponsored by Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha.  Kaitlyn Koch added 9 and Amaris Jones had 7 as Centralia improved to 8-7 on the season and 5-5 in the TVL.  Troy got a trio of three-pointers from Josie Smith who scored 11 points and Kayleee Bennett had 9 before fouling out.  Troy is now 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Twin Valley League.

Much like the 62-32 domination on January 20th, this game was never close in the rematch as Centralia jumped to an early lead and never looked back.  The Panthers dominated the rebounding on both ends of the court and Troy had another off-night from the field with the top three scorers held to zero points in the first half.  Centralia led 31-14 at halftime and Troy never scored double-digits in an quarter.  Tristan Speer led the Trojans with 12 points and scored their first 7, but no one else had more than 5 points as Troy fell to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the TVL.  Centralia improved to 11-4 and 8-2 in league action, led by 12 points apiece from Sam Steinloge and Brett Burdiek.  Devin Rempe scored 10 and Cody Huerter added 9 for the Panthers.
