Seventeen Area Teams in Latest KBCA Rankings -- Feb. 10th

Teams have hit the final few weeks of action in the basketball season and seventeen area teams continue to be ranked in the latest KBCA rankings released February 10th.

Class 4A-Division II:

The Holton Wildcats boys and girls remained ranked this week in the latest KBCA rankings and moved were on the move up in the polls. The Wildcat boys moved to 9-4 on the season after registering wins over Hiawatha and Concordia last week and moved up two spots in the polls to number four. The Lady Cats like their counterparts posted a 2-0 week earning wins over Hiawatha and Concordia moving to 8-6 on the season and moved up one spot to number nine in the latest poll.

Santa Fe Trail Lady Chargers also remained in the rankings staying put at number two in the polls after topping Riverside in Big Seven League play.

Class 3A:

Sabetha Bluejays and Nemaha Valley Raider boys both continued to remain ranked on the season as they have a combined one loss on the season. Sabetha Bluejays continued to roll past opponents topping Perry Lecompton to improve to 14-0 on the season and remained ranked third in the poll. For Nemaha Valley they worked past Royal Valley to move to 13-1 on the season and for the first time in a few weeks move out of the number seven spot, moving up to number six.

On the girls side the Marysville Bulldogs for the second straight week remained in the polls checking in at number 10 again this week. Bulldogs improved to 11-3 on the season with a win over Abilene after battling back from behind in the game.

Class 2A:

The Lady Chargers of Jefferson County North continue to dominate the 2A girls poll remaining number one again this week as they remained unbeaten on the season after beating Pleasant Ridge twice last week to improve to 14-0. The Washington County Tigers also remain in the rankings with JCN, remaining number five this week after beating Centralia to move to 13-1 on the year.

On the boys side of the polls the Valley Falls Dragons continued to slowing climb the 2A polls as the Dragons remained at 12-1 on the season after not playing last week.

Class 1A-Division I: 

For most of the season five Twin Valley League teams have been ranked in 1A-DII and that trend continued this week with all five teams remaining in their previous ranking.

On the girl’s side, Valley Heights leads the way for the area teams at number two in the polls with their 14-1 record after cruising past Troy on the road last week. Linn Bulldogs moved to 10-4 on the season after beating Doniphan West last week and remained ranked eighth in the poll.

Hanover Wildcats lead the area teams in the rankings on the boy’s side checking in at number two again this week after beating Wetmore last Friday to improve to 12-3. Valley Heights improved to 13-2 on the year with a road win over Troy last week and remained ranked fourth. Centralia Panthers stood fast and remained ranked at number six this week after beating Washington County to move to 10-4 on the season.

Class 1A-Division II:

The B&B Falcons boys and girls have both remained in the rankings a good portion of the season and both remained ranked this week checking in at number six and one, respectively in the polls. The boys remained ranked at number six this week after falling to Marais des Cygnes in a non-league matchup, falling to 9-6 on the season. The B&B Lady Falcons moved to 13-2 with a win over Marais des Cygnes and continued to sit atop the perch of 1A-DII, ranking number one again this week.

Axtell Eagle boys moved to 10-5 last week with a win over Onaga at home and continue to find themselves in the polls staying put at number five in the rankings this week.
