Raiders Keep Winning Streaks Alive at Royal Valley

In a battle of the purple-clad Valley's, it was Nemaha Valley sweeping Royal Valley on Friday night in Hoyt to extend their hot streaks.

Fresh off a repeat title at the HIT, the Lady Raiders started the game on a 8-0 run and witth a 9-0 burst to begin the second quarter, led 19-2 and had the Panthers in a hole they could not climb out of.  NV led 25-10 at halftime and by double-digits throughout the second half, improving to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the Big 7 League with their seventh consecutive win.  Rachel Baumgartner came off the bench to score at least 4 points in every quarter and ended with 17, while Jaci Swart continued her rapid pace by adding 12.  Royal Valley had 16 turnovers falling to 5-10 on the season, but freshman Lexi Baker scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, including four trifecta's to keep the game respectable.  

BOYS = Nemaha Valley 52, Royal Valley 46
The Raider boys scored the first 10 points of the game and were never truly threatened after building a 38-24 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Noah Rottinghaus scored 8 of his 16 points for the Panthers in the final frame and RV had the ball several times down only 6, but missed several opportunities and NV dominated the rebounds, using several offensive boards to deliver 16 second chance points.  Devin Henry was the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company, "Player to Bank On" with 14 points to pace the Raiders, including a lone trey and another three-point-play to get NV off to a quick start.  Caleb Meyer added 10, Justice McKernan 9 and Abe Elder 8, as the Raiders improved to 13-1 with their 8th win in a row.  Skyler Link had 10 and Austin Hodison 8 for the Panthers who dropped to 7-8 on the season.
