Three Area Teams & 23 Wrestlers Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings - Feb. 4th

Three area teams and 23 individual wrestlers remain ranked in the latest set of KWCA rankings released on Tuesday.

Class 4A continues to have the Holton Wildcats dominate the standings sitting up the number one perch as a team yet again this week. Wildcats are fresh off of a first place finish at the Baldwin Invitational this past weekend. Sophomore, Jonah Lutz (132lbs) and senior, Cooper Zeller (285lbs) lead Holton in the latest rankings both checking at number two in their weight class.

Senior, Andrew Rieschick (160lbs) and junior, Lucas Lovvorn (152lbs) each tout rankings of third in their respective weight classes, while sophomore, Justin Rieschick (138lbs) ranks fourth and freshman, Tyler Price (120lbs) ranks sixth.

Jeff West Tiger senior, Justin Scott continues to remain unbeaten on the season after another great performance on the mats taking first at the Baldwin Invitational this past weekend at 285lbs. Scott has been ranked number one all season and remains atop that perch at 285lbs in Class 4A.

Atchison Redman senior, Tyler Harris also has been ranked for a good portion of the year and checks in at number three in the latest rankings at 170lbs.  

Class 3-2-1A continues to house multiple wrestlers from multiple schools and two teams in the Top 10, also.

The ACCHS Tigers have been ranked a good portion of the year as a team and come in at number five spot this week, falling a few spots in the rankings. Junior, Logan Bowen leads the Tigers in the rankings ranking number two at 132lbs, while Scott Birkinsha (170lbs) ranks third in the latest poll and Hunter Ostertag (106lbs) and Justin Wagner (152lbs) each ranked fourth in their weight class.

Marysville Bulldogs are the other area team in the rankings moving up to number nine this week with three wrestlers continuing to be ranked in the latest polls. Junior, Josh Nelson (160lbs) touts the highest ranking for the Bulldogs ranking second, while senior, Casey Hilton (220lbs) ranks fifth and Chris Deters (113lbs) in their weight classes.

Sophomore, Garrett Dunlap (160lbs) and senior, Trevor Fee (170lbs) for Doniphan West continue to remain ranked in their weight classes at number three and six, respectively. Fellow wrestling mate of the Mustangs in junior, Tristan Speer of Troy also continues to be ranked, as he remains number at 195lbs in the latest poll.

Sabetha Bluejays for the second straight week have two grapplers in the polls as Jacob Leuthold (285lbs) and Michael Baumgartner (170lbs) each remained ranked. Leuthold checks in at number four in his weight class, while Baumgartner ranks fifth.

Centralia Panther senior, Andrew Beck has put together another strong season on the mats and been ranked all year, this week checking in at number three at 152lbs. His running mate with Onaga in Dustin Blow also remained ranked this week checking in at number six at 195lbs in the latest rankings. While Riverside Cyclone, Cody Walker also remained ranked this week and stayed atop the perch of the 220lbs weight class ranking number one yet again.

With Regionals looming two weeks from Saturday area wrestlers and their teams are looking to hit their stride on the mat in the final stretch of the regular season.
