Two Area Teams & 21 Wrestlers Ranked by KWCA in Latest Rankings - Jan. 21st

Wrestling season back in the groove post-holiday break and many area wrestlers and their teams continue to have strong season as two area teams continue to remain ranked high in their classifications and 20 individual wrestlers are ranked.

Class 4A it's the Holton Wildcats continuing to lead the way as they remain number one as a team as they have held that ranking all season. The Wildcats are coming off an eighth place finish at the Newton tournament of champions wrestling all bigger schools in the competition. Six Wildcats are ranked this week with senior, Cooper Zeller and sophomore, Justin Rieschick each leading the way ranking second at 285lbs and 138lbs, respectively. Sophomore, Jonah Lutz and senior, Andrew Rieschick both ranked third in their weight classes of 132lbs and 160lbs. Lucas Lovvorn holds down a fourth ranking at 152lbs and Tyler Price ranks sixth at 120lbs.

Jeff West Tiger senior, Justin Scott continues to sit atop the perch of the 285lbs weight class in 4A as the defending state champ continues to dominate his opponents this season. While Atchison Redman, Tyler Harris also remains in the 4A rankings checking in at number five in the latest set of KWCA rankings.

Class 3-2-1A it's the ACCHS Tigers having a strong season for area teams and continue to be ranked as a squad but did move down to number three in the polls. Tigers are led by a quartet in the rankings with junior, Logan Bowen leading the charge as he ranks second at 132lbs. Senior, Scott Birkinsha continues to be ranked at 170lbs, coming in at number three, while freshman Hunter Ostertag ranks fourth at 106lbs and senior, Justin Wagner ranks fifth at 152lbs for the Tigers.

Doniphan West as a trio of wrestlers in the rankings as the Troy Trojan, Tristan Speer has helped lead the Mustangs this season on the mats and remains ranked number one at 195lbs. Senior, Trevor Fee for the Mustangs ranks sixth at 170lbs and Garrett Dunlap comes in at number four at 160lbs.

The Marysville Bulldogs have a pair of wrestlers in the rankings again as sophomore, Chris Deters remain ranks at 113lbs coming in at number three and Josh Nelson ranks second at 160lbs.

Onaga as a team also has a pair of wrestlers ranked one from Onaga and the other from Centralia. Centralia Panther, Andrew Beck continues to be an anchor in the polls at 152lbs coming in at number three in the latest rankings, while Dustin Blow of Onaga ranks sixth at 195lbs.

Both Riverside and Sabetha each have a wrestler remaining in the top six of their respective weight classes. For the Cyclones, senior Cody Walker continues to remain ranked first at 220lbs while junior, Jacob Leuthold ranks fourth at 285lbs for the Bluejays.

The wrestling season continues and plenty of tough action looms for all the area wrestlers and their teams this season.
