Royal Valley Panthers Take 5th at Seaman Wrestling Dual Tournament

Looking for a solid performance post-holiday break the Royal Valley Panthers headed to Topeka to participate in the Seaman Dual Tournament to get their second half of the wrestling season underway. The Panthers on the day finished in fifth place out of the six teams competing in action on the day.

Royal Valley as a team went 1-4 in their dual matchups as part of the Seaman Dual Tournament. Panthers opened the day with a 57-18 loss to host Seaman in round one, then fell to Blue Valley Southwest 41-24 in the second round and lost 53-18 in the third round to Hays. In the fourth round Royal Valley had their closest bout of the day at the time but fell to KC Turner 42-33, before closing the day with a 48-15 win over Shawnee Mission East to take fifth place on the day.

Panthers were lead on the day by Chance Ogden at 170lbs who went a perfect 5-0 on the mat with five pinfall victories winning most of his matches at about the 3:20 mark. Matthew Bailey at 182lbs posted a 4-1 record behind a pair of pinfall wins and two forfeit wins, also.

Austin Ashley (120lbs), Noah Hart (138lbs) and Bryce Golightley (145lbs) all went 3-2 on the day in their action on the mat. For Ashley he won a pair of matches via pin and another by decision, Hart won two matches by decision and another by pin, for Golightley won twice by decision and one time in OT.

Garrett Schultz and Jerry Coan each posted a 2-3 record on the day while Charles Todd picked up one win also on the day (via forfeit).

The Panthers will look to use the Seaman Dual Tournament to improve and push them through the rest the season.
