Falls City Tiger Boys Win Peru State Holiday Tournament

 (KLZA) The Falls City Tiger Boys basketball team picked up another Peru State College HOliday Tournament championship Saturday night defeating the Auburn Bulldogs 45-34 in the title game.

After three ties and six lead changes in the first quarter the Tigers grabbed a 7 point lead a halftime and hit 8 of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Mitchell Harling led the Tigers with 17 points in the title game.  Jack Hartman scored 11.   Auburn was led by senior Caleb Nelson with 10 points. Falls City is not 9-1 on the season. 

Lourdes Central Catholic won the girls title with a 43-35 win over Johnson-Brock.  Sam Heng led the Lady Knights with 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half.  Sarah Wenzl and Erin Bohling had 9 and Kendra Alberts 8 for the Eagles. The Knights are 7-2 for the year.

Consolation round games won by the Falls City girls, 37-31 over Auburn.  Brooke Scheitel scored 10 to lead Falls City .  Hannah Brown had 10 and Taylor Petersen 10 for Auburn. The Bayard Boys wrapped up about a 1,000 mile round trip to the Peru State Tournament with a win in the consolation game 46-42 over Johnnson-Brock.  Tyler Fiscus had 11 points for the Tigers.  Nick Stahl had 22 and Kirby Neufeld chipped in 15 for Johnson-Brock.
