It was the inaugural season for the Northeast Kansas League and it was an interesting one for many of the many as three teams made the playoffs in Class 2-1A and 3A but saw their playoff runs come to a close in round one.

The plenty of the teams in the league had top performers and all those players were honored with All-League honors either first or second team, or honorable mention.

McLouth Bulldogs lead the charge with All-League honorees having eight players earn first team after a 7-3 season that featured a district title and another playoff appearance. Senior, playmakers Drew Cerny and Nic McAferty lead the charge this season for McLouth and both earned first team All-League on offense at runningback and wideout, respectively while also earning All-League at return man and safety also for Cerny and punter for McAferty. McAferty also added second team honors at linebacker to his honors. Fellow senior, Brady Sullivan earned first team All-League multiple times, too on the offensive line and at linebacker.

Dylan Stauch was the other Bulldog to earn first team All-League honors notching his honors on the defensive line, while picking up second team honors on the offensive line. Junior, Jake Copeland took home second team honors along the defensive line for the Bulldogs, while Dylan Dover was honorable mention on defense at defensive end. On offense junior quarterback, Jack Courtney earned honorable mention honors for McLouth.

Jackson Heights Cobras enjoyed another solid season on the football field going 7-2 but missing out of the playoffs but notched the second most first team All-League honorees. Senior, Preston Richter leads the way for the Cobras as he earned first team honors on both sides of the ball on both the offensive and defensive lines. Joining him on defense was Nate Bryan who was named first team at cornerback, while earning first team at the offensive specialist spot and second team honors at return man. Kyle Algren was the other Cobra with first team All-League defense honors his coming at linebacker.

Tim Rupnicki took home first team honors on the offensive side of the ball with his great running this season notching the honors at runningback, while also earning honorable mention at linebacker. Dustin Davis locked up a spot on the second team offensive line honors and sophomore, Adam Brey was honorable mention at linebacker.

The rest of the NEKL outside of Oskaloosa all had two players named first team All-league and multiple earning second team and honorable mention honors.

For the Pleasant Ridge Rams who finished 5-5 on the season and made the playoff Logan McKinney was a two-way first team All-League honoree at defensive end and offensive line. While, Blake Graham earned a pair of second team honors for the Rams at cornerback and runningback and was honorable mention at return man spot. Nick Holmes grabbed a pair of honors, too notching second team quarterback spot and honorable mention honors at safety.

Kyle Grantham, Robert McManigle and Kyle Jones each took home second team honors at defensive specialist, linebacker and offensive line spots. While, Kyle Lansing and Colton Doty rounded out the Rams honorees with honorable mention honors at cornerback and offensive line.

The Horton Chargers were only 3-6 on the season but competed in multiple games throughout the year and saw Jake Pahmahmie and Josh Allen each earn first team All-League honors coming at the offensive line and defensive specialist spots. Only two Chargers earned multiple All-League honors and the was senior, Jordan Matthias notching second team honors at punter and linebacker and junior, Trey Dishon who earned a pair of second team honors coming at defensive end and tight end.

Conner Waser and Dakota Bayles joined Matthias and Dishon each registering second honors for Horton at defensive line spot and wideout, respectively. Junior quarterback, Derek Stone notched honorable mention at QB spot and Spencer DeLosSantos garnered that honor at cornerback.

Oskaloosa Bears were the only other team from the NEKL alongside Pleasant Ridge and McLouth to make the playoffs but saw their run stop in round one finishing their year 4-6. Senior offensive linemen, Wyatt Hofstra was the only Bears player to earn first team All-League honors. While, Justin Sharp and Bryce Stottlemire each earned a pair of second team honors. For Sharp the honors came at cornerback and wideout, while Stottlemire's honors were at defensive end and offensive specialist.

Luis Rodriguez joined Sharp and Stottlemire with second team honors on offense as Rodriguez picked up the honors at runningback, while registering honorable mention honors at cornerback and punter. Both Kyle Desmond and Austin Tavis each earned honorable mention on the offensive line and Kyle Hopkins and Dillion Grother on defense at defensive specialist and safety for the Bears.

The Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens finished the season 2-7 and saw Rafael Riqueline and Dillon Kramer each earn first team All-League honors coming at the kicker and defensive line spots. Kramer added to his honors picking up second team honors on offense along the line, while Brian Scott was the only other Raven with second team honors his coming at safety, but also did earn honorable mention at punter. Mark McDermed, Nick Caudle, Cole Siebenmorgen and Austin Geenens each earned honorable mention honors on offense at wideout, wideout, offensive line and offensive specialist.

Like Maur Hill, Valley Falls Dragons finished with a 2-7 record this season but had their season plagued with misfortune. Luke Burns and Gates Glassel lead the postseason honors for the Dragons each earning first team at wideout and cornerback, respectively. While, Burns added honorable mention honors at safety to his honors, his teammates Riley Kearney and Max Badgett each earned honorable mention at runningback and defensive end.

For the Jefferson County North Chargers it was a down year going 1-8 after a playoff season the year before but Luke Pyle helped provide the Chargers with some highlights which earned him first team All-League at defensive end and at tight end, also. Senior, Aaron Meckfessel registered second team honors at kicker, while Casey Willyard garnered honorable mention at the runningback spot.

It was an interesting first year for the NEKL with three teams making the playoffs and next year sets up to be another interesting one.
