KSHSAA Release New Classifications and Hiawatha & McLouth Both Move Down a Class
By Mike Smith

Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has announced their new classifications for the 2012-13 school year. A total of 33 schools saw their classification change, either moving up or down a class. Only two Kanzaland area schools were affected this year by the classification changes that being Hiawatha and McLouth.

Hiawatha, previously a Class 4A school moved down a classification to Class 3A in all sports outside football which is currently already in Class 3A. While for McLouth they go from being a Class 3A school to bumping down into Class 2A in all sports outside of football, which also moved down to Class 2-1A.

While only two schools change classifications, the Class 1A remains split into divisions and could be reworked with teams moving from division I to II or vice versa. The division system in Class 1A is different for each sport and will be announced later on the teams put into division I and II, which could affect some Kanzaland area schools like: Centralia, B&B , Frankfort, Wetmore, Axtell, Clifton-Clyde, Hanover, Linn, Blue Valley-Randolph and Valley Heights.
