Falls City Softball Season Ends in District Title Game

(KTNC0 -  The Falls City Tiger softball team saw its season come to an end Friday in the Class C-1 District Championship Game at Syracuse.
 The top-seeded Southern Raiders shutout number-two seed Falls City, 3-0, in the championship game to claim the automatic berth in this week’s State Tournament.
 The shutout in the title game was the second one for the Raiders over the Tigers on Friday.  Southern blanked Falls City, 8-0, in the semi-final game earlier in the day Friday.
 Falls City came back to beat Johnson County Central, 8-0, in a loser’s bracket game to get to the title game.  JCC beat Wilber-Clatonia, 2-0, in an elimination game Friday afternoon.
 Falls City ends the season with a 20-12 record, while Southern advances to the State Tournament with a 23-4 record.  The Raiders are seeded third in the Class C State Tournament.  They play Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 11:30 Wednesday morning in the first game of the double-elimination tournament.
 Wahoo is the top seed and Bishop Neumann is seeded second.

 Top-seeded Norris won the Class B District Softball Tournament played in Auburn.  Norris shutout Gretna in the semifinals and then beat Waverly 5-0 in the championship game after Waverly beat Gretna 14-2 in an elimination game.
 Waverly also ended the season for the Auburn/HTRS co-op team in an elimination game Friday morning, winning 9-0.
 Auburn/HTRS ends the year with a 12-15 record.
 Norris is the #6 seed in the Class B State Tournament and will play #3 seed Elkhorn South at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.

 The State Softball Tournament will be played at the Bill Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, with the championship games scheduled for Friday.
