As the fall sports seasons hit the final stretch of regular season play teams will soon turn their attention to postseason action and earning a bid to the state tournament in their respective sports.

For volleyball a few more weeks remain of regular season play and league tournaments are still on tap for many area teams, but in anticipation for the postseason play KSHSAA has released the sub-states for this year.

In Class 4A, the classification sees the split take effect in the first sport since the split was approved. Atchison the lone 4A-Division I school will play at Hayden for the sub-state but it will only be four teams in the sub-state as they will square off with Baldwin, Wamego and the host Hayden.

4A-Division II features the remaining area 4A teams and they are split up into four team sub-states. Holton finds themselves in the Clay Center sub-state, while Santa Fe Trail will be in the Prairie View sub-state. Royal Valley, Perry Lecompton and Jeff West will all compete against each other in their sub-state with Bishop Ward, also as Perry will host.

In Class 3A, three sub-state's feature area teams with host sites being Minneapolis, Rossville and Riverside. Marysville will be the only area team at the Minneapolis sub-state, while Oskaloosa will be the lone area team at the Rossville sub-state. Riverside will host the rest of the area 3A schools including: Hiawatha, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Pleasant Ridge, ACCHS, Horton, Sabetha and Nemaha Valley.

A pair of sub-states in Class 2A feature teams from the area as both Onaga and Washington County will both compete in the Mission Valley sub-state, while the remaining 2A area teams will all compete at Valley Falls. The Dragons will host: Jackson Heights, Immaculata, McLouth, Troy and Jefferson County North, along with non-area teams in Bishop Seabury and Maranatha Academy.

Class 1A is perhaps the easiest to follow with all the area teams all in one sub-state. At the 1A-Division I level, Centralia will be playing hosts to fellow TVL teams in Valley Heights, Hanover and Linn, also Frankfort who moves up to 1A-DI and Doniphan West who moved down this year.

In 1A-Division II, Axtell will be hosting the area sub-state and it will feature B&B, Wetmore, St. Xavier and Blue Valley-Randolph.

Listed below are the sub-states for all the area teams, as the action is set for Saturday October 26th for sub-state volleyball. (full list of sub-states across the state -- click here)
