B&B Takes Down Onaga & Frankfort in TVL Volleyball Action

Another action packed Tuesday in the Kanzaland area for volleyball action and the Twin Valley League action was in full force. On the radio on Tuesday (September 24th) the B&B Falcons played host to the Onaga Buffalos and Frankfort Wildcats for a triangular.

When the night's action ended it was 2-0 evening for the B&B Falcons who beat Onaga and Frankfort both in straight sets; taking care of Onaga 25-9 and 25-20 and Frankfort 25-6 and 25-17. The Buffalos made it a 1-1 night for themselves as they beat Frankfort in the other matchup in the triangular as Onaga won in straight sets, 25-22 and 25-16 over the Wildcats who finished the night 0-2 for the evening.

In the first matchup of the night it was the host B&B Falcons squaring off with the Onaga Buffalos. Set one quickly spun in the favor of the Falcons as they at point in the set rattled of six straight points and cruised to the 25-9 first set win. In set two, it was a back and forth affair between the two teams with neither team string a run of points more than three, until the end of the set when the Falcons closed the set out with five straight points to earn the 25-20 set and match win.

Matchup number two on the night it was the Onaga Buffalos getting the best of the Frankfort Wildcats in straight sets. Each team traded points back and forth in the first set with Onaga leading a majority and ultimately capturing the set victory, 25-22. Frankfort started set two by scoring the first point of the set but then Onaga quickly took control with six straight points leading 6-1. Wildcats would not go away easy battling back to take a lead in the middle of the set, before Onaga finally went on another stretch run to take control again and win the set 25-16 and take the match.

To wrap up the night it was B&B and Frankfort squaring off against each other with the Falcons remaining unbeaten in league play as they earned the straight set win over Frankfort. In set one it was nine straight points by B&B to firmly cement the set in their favor as they went on to grab the 25-6 set win. Set two proved to be a tighter matchup but again the Falcons pushed to a lead and took the set 25-17, winning the match.

On the night for the Falcons senior, Cassie Hulsing shine bright making tremendous plays upfront while also registering close to a handful of service aces on the night. Fellow senior, Laura Sudbeck register strong kills up front while Ashley Kramer set up the offense. For Onaga the play of junior, Rebekah Glessnar and senior, Jocelyn Marten stood out who both had great kills on the night and both made exceptional defensive plays, too. For Frankfort in the losses it was senior, Ashley Joseph providing the offense upfront, while Maura Kennedy made key plays to help the Wildcats challenge on the night.

With the pair of wins the B&B Falcons improved to 18-2 on the season and 7-0 in league action, while Onaga who was 1-1 on the night moved to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in league. Frankfort with two losses fell to 6-7 on the year and 4-4 in TVL action on the season.
