It was all the road team on Friday night in Onaga as the Valley Heights Mustangs came to town and got the best of the Buffalos with a 60-16 win behind their rushing attack, four Onaga turnovers and costly mistakes by the Buffalos.

Onaga deferred after winning the toss and it looked to be a wise decision after the defense came up big with a fumble recovery against the Mustangs and then the Buffalos rumbled down the field all the way down to the one and that's when the momentum changed as the Buffalos fumbled it on the two on the handoff and junior, Gage Woodyard scooped it up and took it to the house for 98-yard scoop and score to give the Mustangs an early 7-0 lead.

Things continued to unravel for Onaga, who moved the ball but coughed it up three more times in the first half via two more fumbles and an interception. Two of the three lead to short fields and ultimate scores by the Mustangs and another short field was had on a blocked punt by the Mustangs, also leading to a touchdown and ultimately a 41-0 lead at the half by Valley Heights. It was junior, quarterback Gage Woodyard adding a pair of rushing touchdowns to his fumble recovery score in the first half, while senior, Cole Maddox score three times on the ground.

In the second half the Mustangs scoring trend continued scoring on their first two offensive drives in the second half with a 20-yard touchdown run by senior, Derek Trimble and an 87-yard scamper for a score by freshman, Logan Woodyard. Gage Woodyard added his third score of the game in the second half.

Buffalos finally got on the board late in the game with a 90-yard kickoff return by junior, Wyatt Cordell and then added a 10-yard rushing score by David Koelzer, after a big 80-yard run by Michael Bliss, to set up the score.

The Mustangs controlled the battle of the trenches and got out in space with their speed and ran the ball for 404 total yards. Quarterback, Gage Woodyard for the Mustangs orchestrated that Mustang rushing attack rushing for only 58-yards on 18 carries but three scores and handing off a trio of backs that went over 100-yards each. Woodyard's four touchdowns in the game earned him "Community National Bank" Player to Bank On honors on 92.1 KMZA.

Gage was joined in the great rushing night by his seniors, Maddox and Trimble, along with freshman, Logan Woodyard all going north of the 100-yard plateau. The freshman, lead the way with 130 yards on eight carries, including an 87-yard touchdown. While, Maddox put up 102 yards on eight carries and scored three times and Trimble on nine carries had 104 yards and a 20-yard touchdown run.

Junior, Michael Bliss led the Buffalos in the loss with 118 yards on the ground, as the Buffalos struggled to hold on to the ball in the contest.

With the win the Mustangs avenged a 28-6 loss last year to Onaga and improved to 2-1 on the season having their second 400+ rushing yards performance of the season. While the Onaga Buffalos with the loss fell to 1-2 on the season.
