The first Kansas Volleyball Association rankings during the season have been released after teams across the state have gotten their season's underway.

Seven area teams started the season ranked and this week five of those area teams remained in the rankings.

In Class 1A-Division II the B&B Falcons opened the season 2-0 and remained number one in their classification. Lady Falcons have since moved to 3-1 on the season splitting a dual with Washington County, winning a straight matchup against the Tigers, while falling in three tough sets in their loss. The Falcons take to the court in their first tournament action on Saturday (September 14th) when they partake in the action at the Nemaha Valley Invitational.

Class 1A-Division I, it was the Centralia Panthers who were preseason ranked from the area at number three and they remained at number three after starting the season 5-2, with a 3-2 second place performance at the Wabaunsee Invitational to open the season and then a pair of TVL wins over Troy and Washington County. The Panthers have improved upon their record with another pair of league wins back on Tuesday beating Wetmore and Valley Heights in straight sets, to move to 7-2 on the year. Centralia won't be in action again until next Tuesday (September 17th) when they travel to Blue Valley-Randolph for a dual matchup.

Class 2A, touts a pair of area teams in the rankings as both Jefferson County North and Washington County both remained ranked after starting the season preseason ranked, but there was some shake-up for both area teams. For Washington County they opened up the season as number one, but fell to number four after opening the season 1-1, with a win over Troy and a three set loss to Centralia. The Tigers since then split a dual with Class 1A-Division II team B&B, to move to 2-2 on the season. Washington County continues their season on Saturday (September 14th) in their first tournament action at the Frankfort Invite.

For the Jefferson County North Chargers who started the season ranked second they had a chance to move to the top spot and that they did opening the season 2-0 with wins over Valley Falls and Immaculata. The Chargers since then have added two more wins to move to 4-0 on the season beating Pleasant Ridge and Horton. JCN will see their first tournament action this Saturday (September 14th) at the Riley County Invitational.

Class 4A, hosts the only other area team to be ranked in the latest polls by KVA as the Santa Fe Trail Chargers shot out of the gate to open the season a perfect 7-0 by winning the Jeff West Invitational and sweeping ACCHS in Big Seven league action. The Chargers since then remained unbeaten on the season, dispatching Jeff West in straight sets in a dual for a pair of wins to improve to 9-0 on the season. The Santa Fe Trail next hits the court on Monday (September 16th) competing in the Central Heights Triangular.
