Seneca went out on the road Monday night and cruised past Hiawatha in NEK League Legion baseball showdown at Noble Park, earning their 20th win of the season with a 12-0 victory.

The scoring started early for Seneca as they established a lead after the first inning, by scoring three in the top of the first using a three singles and a walk. Lead moved to 5-0 in the third inning when Josh Schraad laced a RBI single to bring home Alex Rottinghaus after his double earlier in the inning.

Looking to continue their offensive success Seneca busted out in the top of the fifth for seven runs most coming with nobody out in the inning. Hiawatha needing to score in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going and managed to work the bases loaded but was down to their final out and couldn't ultimately get that illusive run across the board on the night.

Seneca's 13-hit offensive attack was led by Alex Hermesch and Alex Rottinghaus who both went 3-4 in the contest. Alex Hermesch posted two doubles with three RBI and two runs scored, while Alex Rottinghaus had a double with an RBI and pair of runs scored. Schraad, Cody Rottinghaus and Evan Hermesch each added a multi-hit night for Seneca.

While, the offense got it done for Seneca, Eric Sperfslage pitched a great game going five innings giving up just five hits, three walks while striking out four. Dalton Lehmkuhl took the tough loss for Hiawatha pitching four innings while Marshall Swearingen pitched the final inning.

With the win Seneca boost themselves to 20-3 on the season and set up to be in action again on Friday when they host Rock Creek for a non-league double header at 6:00 and 8:00pm. While for Hiawatha with the loss they fall to 6-18 on the season and will play host to Doniphan County on Wednesday in a league double header at 6:00 and 8:00pm.
