Onaga Buffaloes Claims TVL Boys Golf Title

With post season on the horizon the Twin Valley League golf squads meet up against each other last week in battled on the golf course for the league title in Onaga.

Home course advantage proved to be a little something as the Buffaloes of Onaga continued a little hot streaking on the golf course after winning the Linn Invite against fellow TVL teams, the Buffaloes took home the League title on Friday. Buffaloes compiled a team score of 381 winning the TVL crown by 18 strokes. Onaga was led by four top 10 performances to amass their team score with Matt Marten leading the way after shooting am 89 good for third place individually. His teammates Lucas Helget, Devin Schlegel and Mitchell Kufhal joined him with a fifth, seventh and ninth place finishes, respectively after rounds of 94, 98 and 100.

Linn Bulldogs came in second to Onaga after tallying a team score of 399, being led by the best individual performance on the day at the hands of Zak Voelker who shot an 83. While his teammates, Blaine Joonas and Kyle Kolle joined him in the top 10 with eighth and tenth place performances after rounds of 99 and 100.

Vermillon, Valley Heights, B&B and Washington County finished the team scores in that order for third, fourth, fifth and sixth place finishes. Three of those four teams each had a top 10 finisher on the day with Vermillon's, Ryan Vernon grabbing the highest finish of the three finishing second after shooting an 85. Valley Heights Mustang, Brenden Dobrovolny took home a fourth place finish after posting a 90, while Washington County Tiger, Tyson Hynek place sixth with a round of 97 at the TVL tournament.

Now that the league tournament is in the books teams and golfers turn their attention Regionals and try to earn a bid to the state tournament.
