Holton Wins Big Seven League Golf in Tight Battle with Nemaha Valley

Big Seven League all season as seen great golf performances from all their teams and individuals from those squads, too and it was no different when all eight schools meet up in Holton for the league golf tournament on Wednesday.

Leading the way on the day was a team that has lead the way in every tournament they competed in this year that's the Holton Wildcats to capture another first place finish this time winning the league title like last year. Wildcats dominated last years Big Seven League tournament winning by 36 strokes, but this year was different as Holton battle Nemaha Valley for the top team performance, besting the Raiders by only four strokes. Holton notched a 329 team score, while Nemaha Valley followed with a 333.

Jeff West Tigers and Sabetha Bluejays followed Holton and Nemaha Valley with third and fourth place finishes after team scores of341 and 359, respectively. The Chargers of Santa Fe Trail rounded out the top five of the team finishes as they only other team to have a team score under 400, posting a 377. Hiawatha, Perry Lecompton and Royal Valley finished off the team performances placing sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively behind scores of 410, 413 and 434. 

The Holton Wildcats were led to their first place team finish behind three top eight finishers on the day including another first place finish for Tavin Dugan who shot the best round of the day with a 76. Dugan's, Wildcat teammates Ethan Holaday and Kenton Tegethoff shot a 79 and 85, respectively to grab a fourth and sixth place finish at the Big Seven League tournament.

Raiders of Nemaha Valley followed the Wildcats in second as a team and had two top eight finishers with Zach Bradley and Trent Olberding placing second and third after both shooting an 78 on the day's action.

Jeff West, Sabetha and Santa Fe Trail each registered a top eight finisher on the day at the league tournamnet. For the Tigers, Avery Farrant took home a fifth place finish after shooting a round of 80. Nolan Keim had the top performance for the Blujeays on the day, good for seventh place individually after shooting an 85, while Charger golfer, Austin Reser also shot an 85 to finish eighth.
