Former Washington County Tiger Hunter Kier Playing Big for Butler CC
Hunter Kier

Coming from a small town playing high school football, it can sometimes be hard to make a name for yourself and get noticed by a big-time college.

For former Washington County Tiger Hunter Kier, he is doing it on his own at the collegiate level via the community college route.

The Former Tiger is in his sophomore season at Butler Community College and is beginning to get looks from several colleges as he is in the midst of a strong season.

Kier currently leads the Grizzlies, the 2008 NJCAA National Champions, in tackles on the season with 34 as he has started in all five games so far this season.

He has also tallied one sack on the season, to go along with 3.5 tackles for loss which is second on the team.

Kier played in just seven games last season, recording seven tackles for the Grizzlies who ended the season with a record of 8-3.

At Washington County Kier was named an all-Twin Valley League selection at both running back and linebacker his senior season, leading the Tigers to a second place finish in the league with an overall record of 8-3 and a trip to the playoffs.

He was also named a first-team all-league selection his junior season, a year in which the Tigers claimed the 11-man TVL regular season championship.

Kier now has Butler ranked No. 19 in the latest NJCAA poll with a record of 3-2, looking to make some noise down the final stretch with six games remaining in the regular season.
