Former Nemaha Central Thunder, Cody Rottinghaus Pitching Well for Fort Hays State to Open Season

Former Nemaha Central Thunder, Cody Rottinghaus continues to find success on the baseball diamond as he transferred to Fort Hays State University after two years at Highland Community College and has been a solid presence out of the Tigers bullpen this year.

Fort Hays State University baseball team is off to an 8-6 start this season and Rottinghaus has appeared in seven of the games out of the bullpen tossing eight innings in what is his junior year in college and first year at FHSU. The former Nemaha Central Thunder is 1-0 on the season with a 3.38 ERA and a save, surrendering four runs on the season (three earned), four hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts and a .200 opponent batting average. Cody picked up the win in one inning of relief in the second game of the season for the Tigers a 6-3 win over UT Permian Basin, while notching his save against Newman in a 13-9 win recording the final two outs.

Prior to Fort Hays State Rottinghaus pitched at Highland Community College for two seasons appearing in 23 games with 16 starts. His sophomore campaign with the Scotties saw him appear in 11 games with eight starts, tossing two complete games finishing the season throwing 46.2 innings and with a 3-5 record. He surrendered 59 runs (49 earned), 57 hits and 45 walks, while striking out 43. In his freshman year he appeared in 12 games with eight starts going just 1-5 tossing 34.1 innings. He gave up 39 runs (36 earned), 44 hits and 22 walks, while striking out 34.

In high school Rottinghaus enjoyed a strong athletic career in multiple sports and was named All-League in baseball, while he also earned All-League honors in legion baseball over the summer with the Seneca.

Rottinghaus looks to continue to settle in with his role on the pitching staff at Fort Hays State and help the Tigers find success on the baseball diamond this year.
