Former Jeff West Tiger, Keishon Brown Making Impact on Diamond For Highland

The baseball season is in full swing and the Highland Community College Scotties are off to a 10-10 start to this season under first year Head Coach, Daniel Dulin.

Former Jeff West Tiger, Keishon Brown has stepped into the fold in his freshman season for Highland and Coach Dulin and made a strong impact 20 games into the season playing in 18 of the 20 games. Brown batting leadoff for the Scotties is carrying a .353 average on the season with 18 hits, 22 runs scored which leads the team, along with 14 RBI’s and 12 walks. Brown has three extra base hits with a pair of doubles and a triple, while also registering five stolen bases on the year.

Brown’s best game came in a victory against Wentworth Military Academy in which he was 3-3 with four runs scored, three RBI’s and a double. That game marked one of five times this season the former Jeff West Tiger recorded a multi-hit game. Keishon also delivered in a big spot for the Scotties against Neosho County in a 12-11 win for Highland as he delivered a walk-off single to lift the team to the win.

In high school Brown earned several honors while playing for Jeff West notching second team All-State honors, along with All-League and was named the Team MVP on the diamond. He was a multi-sport athlete picking up honors in football also which included honorable mention All-State and also All-League honors.

The Scotties look to continue to build up the baseball program and Brown along with several local athletes and the rest of his teammates look to compete the rest of the season and put a strong year together on the diamond.
