Despite trailing 17-14 after the 1st quarter Axtell battled back to lead 33-29 at the half to lead Marysville. The game was a 1-point game at the end of three quarters, but a 31-21 fourth quarter for the Eagles pushed them to the win to open the season. Colton Buessing posted 25 points going 11-12 from the free throw line, while Kaleb Buessing scored 18 points and Mitchell Kuckelman, Adam Kuckelman and Brice Koch added 11 points each. Marysville was led by Gabe Pieschl who scored 19 points, while Jayton Haggard added 13 points and Adam Lindhorst tallied 10 points.
