Boys Basketball - Troy vs Hanover 01/21/2017 7:30 PM

TVL Tournament (at Washington County) - Championship

Top two seeds made it to the TVL Tournament Championship and put on a show in a rematch from earlier in the season when Troy topped Hanover then but the Wildcats got a bit of revenge coming back from a 10-point deficit to win 76-67. The win gives Hanover their sixth TVL Tournament title and fifth in the last seven years, also making them have the most TVL Tournament titles of any League boys team. Hanover got up 8-4 with 4:06 to play in the first when Troy called a timeout and then the Trojans fell behind by five but bounced back to lead 18-16 after one. The lead continued to grow for Troy in the second quarter as Cuttar Huss put on a first half scoring show netting 27 points in the first half including a dunk and helped his team lead 44-34 at halftime over Troy.

The Trojans did get in foul trouble something that plagued them in the game as three starters fouled out of the contest and Hanover shot 42 free throws. Hanover went on the run in the third quarter getting within three, two and then one-point by the end of the third quarter but Troy did enough to still hold a lead, 52-51 entering the fourth. One minute into the fourth Hanover tied the game at 54-54 and then took their first lead with 6:47 left in the game at 56-54 and went on to use a 25-15 fourth quarter and 32-42 performance from the charity stripe to secure the win. Hanover with the victory went 3-0 in the tournament and improved to 8-2 on the year and was led by Will Bruna and Michael Jueneman in the Championship as they scored 27 and 25 points, respectively to earn Community National Bank "Players to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Jueneman went 18-20 from the line himself in the game, while Bruna was 8-10 from the charity stripe. The loss is the first of the season for Troy as they fall to 8-1 on the year and went 2-1 in the tournament, while Huss led them in the loss with 33 points and Wil Smith and Brody Winder each finished with nine points.
