For the fourth straight year the Troy Trojans earned an opening round playoff victory using a 29-8 second half to earn the win over Valley Heights. Troy led just 13-8 at halftime but used three Valley Heights fumbles and a strong second half in which the Trojans outgained the Mustangs 232 to 83 to earn the win.
Troy totaled 401 yards of offense with Alex Martinez rushing for 123 yards on 16 carries and a TD, while Cuttar Huss added 53 yards on 6 carries with two TDs and caught 9 passes for 91 yards and TD. Reid Greaser finished the night 15-22 for 163 yards with a TD.
Valley Heights in the loss was led by Hunter Stevenson who ran for 108 yards on 21 carries with a TD, while Jordan Yungeberg chipped in 98 yards on 19 carries and Logan Woodyard added a rushing TD. The Mustangs finished the season with their best record since 2009.
