The #3-ranked 1A Dl Centralia Lady Panthers won in one of the most tremendous games played this season in overtime against the #3-ranked 1A Dll Hanover Wildcats 44-43. Both teams came off their respective classifications' state titles.

Hanover struck first, going up 6-0 before Centralia began working the ball in the paint with Josie Haverkamp scoring six straight points under the basket to help Centralia go up 8-6; However, this would be Centralia’s only lead of the game until their miraculous overtake in overtime. The first quarter ended 14-10 with Hanover jumping back on top.

The second quarter was very defensive, with both teams not scoring until under the five-minute mark, with Drew Bruna going 2-2 at the free-throw line. Hanover went into the halftime up 23-15, and both teams had forced 13 turnovers and recorded a handful of steals.

Hanover came out quick in the third quarter and at one point had a 12-point lead, but it would be diminished back down to just a nine-point lead going into the fourth quarter 35-26. Hayden Kramer had seven points in the third quarter to keep Centralia in the contest.

The fourth quarter is where Centralia exploded and outscored Hanover 14-5 in the quarter. Centralia would send the game into overtime making their team’s first three of the entire game with Keelyn Rempe having made her first field goal with time expiring. Centralia had struggled cold from outside the arc and had only one three of the entire game, and it came at the biggest moment. The game was sent into OT 40-40.

In overtime Centralia got Gibbs and Kramer to score two a piece with Gibbs going 2-2 at the free throw line to tie the game 42-42 and Hayden Kramer made a stellar jumper to take the lead 44-43. Hanover had realistic time left to score, including a six second impound play but failed to make the first shot and the put back attempt.

Centralia was led by Hayden Kramer with 16 points but the most impressive performance of the night came from Tava Gibbs who had 15 points, 7 steals, and 19 rebounds.

It was a hard fought game on both sides, and continues to reinforce why both teams are as good as they are in their respective classes. Centralia is now 13-3 on the season and 4-1 in TVL play. While Hanover drops to 12-3 an 5-1 in TVL play.
